Helmed by classical music duo Christine Eggert, Pianist, and Katie Harman, Soprano, The Virtuosa Society is an innovative concert series connecting audiences with beautiful works of remarkable women spanning history, genre and culture.

 

The Virtuosa Society is an Oregon-based performance-driven collective whose mission is to champion female composers of the last 400 years through live/livestream multimedia presentations; to create, write and commission new works; and to collaborate with contemporary female writers, performers and visual artists to bring to life works from the past to the present.

Pianist Christine Eggert debuted on Canadian Broadcast Company radio at age 16. From 2014 to 2020, Eggert taught piano, core theory and music history at the Oregon Center for the Arts of Southern Oregon University. Eggert was also the director of the Ashland Chamber Music Workshop.  Recent engagements include her Danish Radio debut on P2 with members of the Copenhagen Phil, concerts with the Expanse Ensemble (two piano and two percussion quartet), and with her husband, former Dallas Brass trumpeter Dan Kocurek – a native of Klamath Falls. Christine holds a Master’s degree from the University of British Columbia, a Bachelor’s of Music with Distinction from the University of Alberta, and an ARCT from Royal Conservatory of Toronto. She has completed collaborative piano studies at the Schubert Institute in Baden bei Wien, Austria, under the world’s foremost lieder specialists, including Rudolf Jansen, Elly Ameling, and Julius Drake. She divides her time between Copenhagen, Denmark and Medford, Oregon.

Soprano Katie Harman parlayed her historic reign as Miss America 2002 (the only Oregon woman to hold the title) into a robust, multifaceted career. A finalist in the prestigious National Opera Association Awards, Harman made her international operatic debut as Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with the Prague Summer Nights Festival, and has been invited back to perform with Opernfest Prague in July 2021. In addition to critically acclaimed roles in opera and musical theater throughout the United States, she has appeared with the Boston Pops, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Denver Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, and Nashville Symphony, among others. In Oregon, she has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Newport Symphony, Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree, Stumptown Stages, Astoria Music Festival, Sunriver Music Festival, Obsidian Opera, Eugene Opera, Elsinore Theater, In A Landscape, and Pink Martini.  Harman graduated from Portland State University, and holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Southern Oregon University.  She lives in Klamath Falls with her husband, Lt. Col (Ret) Tim Ebner - a former F-15 pilot for the Oregon Air National Guard - and their two children. She is the owner of /Härman(e)/ Vocal Studio.
