We absolutely love the beautiful “Gather” design created for Pendleton by artist Emma Robbins. Emma is a Diné artist, activist, and community organizer with a passion for empowering Indigenous women. Through her artwork, she strives to raise awareness about the lack of clean water on Native Nations and educate viewers about issues such as the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis, representations and misrepresentations of Native Peoples, and broken treaties. She explores these themes through photography, installation and through the use of materials foraged from the Navajo Nation and other trips across the U.S. and abroad.
Emma’s “Gather” design is featured in a gorgeous Pendleton blanket as well as this generously sized (18 oz) ceramic mug perfect for everything from coffee and cocoa to soup and cereal. Most importantly, a portion of sales of “Gather” products will support DigDeep's Navajo Water Project.
As Director of the Navajo Water Project, part of the human rights organization DigDeep Water, Emma is working to create infrastructure that brings clean running water to the one in three Navajo families without it. In addition to her water work, she is also the founder of The Chapter House, a new Indigenous arts space, currently all digital, but eventually will be a brick and mortar space on Tongvaland and on the Navajo Nation.
